From a Life of Uncertainty to the Top of Her Class

Priya lost her father when she was just seven years old. Her mother, a daily wage labourer, could not afford school fees or books. When Deepti Foundation welcomed Priya into the Gyansarovar Education Centre, she had never held a pencil. Within three years she was topping her class in mathematics and science. Today, Priya has secured a government scholarship for higher studies and dreams of becoming a civil engineer — a dream once unimaginable for a child from her community.

A Widow Who Became the Breadwinner of Her Village

Sunita was widowed at 32 with three children and no income. She joined Deepti Foundation's vocational training programme and learned tailoring, small business management, and digital literacy. Within 18 months, she had established her own tailoring unit employing four other women from her neighbourhood. The micro-financing support from Deepti helped her purchase industrial sewing machines. Sunita now earns ₹18,000/month and has repaid her loan in full.

Reclaiming Dignity After an HIV Diagnosis

Ramesh was diagnosed HIV-positive in 2018. Stigma forced him out of his job and his landlord asked him to leave. His children were pulled out of school. Deepti Foundation's rehabilitation programme connected Ramesh with ART treatment, legal support, and counselling. His children were re-enrolled at Gyansarovar. Three years later, Ramesh is a community health advocate — training others to understand HIV/AIDS and fight stigma — earning a stable income and living with his family in dignity.

A Home Where Every Child Belongs

Arun and his younger sister Kavya arrived at Deepti Ashram after losing both parents in a road accident. Alone and terrified, they were given shelter, meals, counselling and an education by the Foundation. Arun, now 17, recently cleared his Class 10 board exams with 87% marks. Kavya, 14, is passionate about drawing and her art has been displayed at a national NGO exhibition. They call Deepti Ashram their home — because it truly is.
